Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Spring 2015 Pre-Coverage

That time is almost here, again. When the sound of stilettos clacking against the white stone of the Plaza at Lincoln Center becomes a normal assault on the ears, you know Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (MBFW) has arrived.

From September 4–11 over 400 designers will present their spring/summer 2015 collections in New York City with over 80 of these designers presenting at Lincoln Center. For spring/summer 2015 there’s a mélange of new names presenting at Lincoln Center and several venues throughout New York City. From the New York debut collections of Versace Versus, August Getty Atelier, Anya Caliendo, Stella Nolasco, Serena Williams, Grungy Gentlemen, CuteCircuit, to Oudifu, Luis Antonio, Damon Dash Presents, Taoray Wang, Deola, Snoopy & Belle in Fashion, and Argyleculture by Russell Simmons, this season promises to be filled with innovative silhouettes, color combinations and distinctive points of view.

This fashion week also welcomes the return of L.A.M.B, Falguni and Shane Peacock, Antonio Azzuolo, Barbie, Korto Momolu, Nina Skarra, and many others. Still, the overarching question this season is if IMG—the authoritative, governing entity of MBFW—has worked out some of the controversial issues of last season.

For fall/winter 2014 over 3,000 fashion industry professionals were cut from the media credentials lists. And though some of the shows were at capacity, others were only half full. Many bloggers and ancillary media folks were outraged and expressed their displeasure on a variety of blogs and online sites, slamming IMG for its decision to clean house, so to speak. There was also much debate and conversations about the new and improved look of “The Tents.” While some industry professionals approved the new streamlined, chic look, others felt the redesign was cold and alienating.

Controversy aside, Fashion Reverie will be front and center, bringing our readers detailed coverage from the front row, backstage and the street. And we will also have some interesting surprises. Stay tuned!!
