Parallel to the neutral color beauty trends seen doing New York Fashion Week, bridal trends are also going au natural. These bridal beauty trends are incorporating glowing skin that seems as if it’s lit from within, paired with a soft flush on the cheeks results in a radiant bride. Pops of color on the lips added with a soft smudged liner or bronze smoky eye take the look to the next level, adding a little something extra.
A little pop of pink
Matte skin and finished brows with a coral pink lip are paired with Naeem Khan’s global bridal collection. Lead makeup artist Daniel Martin for Mary Kay shares, “We came up with this look that was very pretty and very effortless.” “You want something that will complement the dress but not overpower it,”Martin emphasizes. “Spring is very optimistic, you’re going to see pops of color, a pink on the lip, or a pop of coral.”
Worth the Wait, a semi sheer flush blush with just a touch of iridescence” from Essie’s new bridal collection added a little color to the bridal manicure explains artist Julie Kandalec. “A lot of women are being more daring. The French [manicure] is totally passé and I’m so glad brides are finally picking up on that. Brides are now like ‘I just want to do a pink or red and have it stand out against the dress.’ It’s good because they’re just going straight to their honeymoon,” exclaims Kandalec.
A hint of pink is a great way to add a little color and still keep with a traditional bridal look. Fashion Reverie suggests Shiseido’s Veiled Rouge in Rosalie, a soft lustrous pink that leaves your lips hydrated and smooth and Urban Decay’s Sheer Revolution Lipstick in Sheer Ladyflower, a dark rosy rich pigmented pink for the perfect pout for that first kiss as man and wife.
Soft stand out eyes
Reem Acra featured soft rosy cheeks that complemented a “bronze smoky eye with a little bit of glitter and a wink eyeliner” shares Cassandra Garcia for Bobbi Brown. “So bridal, but a little more dramatic, which is perfect for [Reem Acra’s starry night] theme.” Garcia is also the makeup genius behind the bridal looks at Marchesa’s ethereal, dream-like collection. To complement the romance and drama, Garcia applied clean white eyeliner for Marchesa with minimal mascara for a fresh and modern bridal design with glowing Bobbi Brown skin. Playing up the eyes in lighter shades such as bronze, whites, and browns adds extra interest, but still keeps the look natural. Although Garcia warns, “Don’t try something you haven’t tried before. If you’re not used to doing a smoky eye, I wouldn’t choose your wedding day to experiment with one.”
