For spring 2014, designer Amsale Aberra looked to grandiose luxury for the Kenneth Pool Bridal Collection. This collection was distinguished by its emphasis on fitted, exaggerated dropped-waist silhouettes that flared out to voluminous tulle skirts.
The Kenneth Pool Bridal Collection has long been associated with elegance and drama as evidenced through their sophisticated and regal bridal ball gowns. This season Amsale did not stray far from the signature look of Kenneth Pool. Amsale expanded upon the aesthetic of the brand by incorporating Lochrosen crystals and miniature bugle beads on sleeves, bodices and full tulle skirts.
Though Kenneth Pool stays solidly in the realm of grandeur and drama, the spring 2014 collection is much more than a bridal dissertation on gilded glamour. There were shades of 1930’s Hollywood glamour in this collection; think Carole Lombard and Jean Harlow. As particularly seen in the stretch duchess satin mermaid gowsn with few or no embellishments. Still, for that bride who wants to make a bold statement with a gown that conjures up images of aristocratic sophistication, Kenneth Pool is definitely a go-to brand for that bride; however, in this collection there was an aristocratic, yet sensual simplicity to the collection that was more inclusive of that bride who wants a slightly more simple elegance.
