Sergio Loro Piano, Vice President of Loro Piano passed away yesterday at the age of 65. The luxury cashmere and wool brand dates back six generations to the late 19th Century, officially becoming known as Loro Piano in 1924.
Sergio Loro Piano with his brother Pier Luigi served as vice presidents of the company, selling a majority stake to LVMH in the summer. In December 2013, Antoine Arnault was appointed chairman of the company.
The exact cause of Sergio Loro Piano’s death has not been revealed. His wife Maria Luisa and his three children survive him.
Pat McGrath honored
Veteran make-up artist Pat McGrath has been named to Queen Elizabeth II’s New Year’s Honors list. McGrath has been the make-up artist behind looks for Dior, Miu Miu, Prada, Comme des Garcons, and Dolce & Gabbana. She has been named by Vogue as the most influential make-up artist in the world.
McGrath is now a MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for her services to fashion and beauty. Previous fashion recipients include Mario Testino and Sara Burton of Alexander McQueen.
The fourth time is the charm
Raf Simons has partnered up with long-time friend Sterling Ruby for a menswear collaboration to be seen during the menswear shows in Paris January 15. The collection is to be called Raf Simons/Sterling Ruby.
This is not the first time the designers have worked together. In 2008, the dynamic duo revamped Simons’ Tokyo namesake store. In 2010, Simons and Ruby collaborated on a denim capsule collection called Raf Simons x Sterling Ruby. And in 2012, Simons’ fall 2012 couture collection for Dior featured adapted prints for Ruby’s previous creations.
The menswear collection promises to be combination of Simons’ design innovation and Ruby’s artistic aesthetic.
