Sarah Jessica Parker caught millions of “Sex and the City” viewers’ attention with her closet full of Manolo Blahniks and Jimmy Choos. Well, I guess Carrie Bradshaw’s love of footwear has rubbed of on Ms. Parker.
Last Friday, Sarah Jessica Parker own line of footwear, SJP, was launched in the Nordstrom’s pop-up shop on West Broadway in Soho. Sarah Jessica Parker was inspired “By the late 70s and the mod resistance of New York, Charles Jourdan, Bennis And Edwards and countless others that were prominently a part of the New York shoe business,” stated Parker in a Hauteliving.com interview.
Parker collaborated with George Malkemus, CEO of Manolo Blahnik, on her footwear line. SJP retails between $195 and $495.
Adidas aims for Bigger
Being the second largest sportswear retailer is not enough for Adidas. Losing market share to the world’s largest sportswear retailer, Nike, has prompted Adidas to launch its “HomeCourt” concept.
Adidas is aiming to replicate a stadium experience in all of its flagship stores. The “HomeCourt” concept has already been launched in Adidas’ biggest store in Beijing, China.
The new-look stores will have a tunnel entry which welcomes shoppers with the sound of cheering fans as well as a “team room” fitting area and a central spot recalling the middle of a sports field equipped with touchscreens to help find products.
Menkes splits
After 25 years Suzy Menkes has left the International Herald Tribune, recently rebranded the International New York Times, for a position as international Vogue editor. Menkes will serve as fashion critic and reporter for all international websites—Britain, France, Italy, China, Russia, Japan, Germany and Spain.
“I am thrilled to become international Vogue editor at Condé Nast International, which has a real commitment to journalistic excellence, and to have the opportunity to write for a wider global audience through the Vogue websites,” said Menkes. “I am grateful to have spent 25 years at the International Herald Tribune—a newspaper where I had unstinting support in being able to express myself freely and honestly. I feel this is the perfect time to embrace a new challenge in the digital age.”
