Beauty Tip: Achieving French Beauty

Downloads363There is something so magical about Paris.  It’s referred to as both the city of lights and the city of love, but in Fashion Reverie’s opinion, it’s really the city of beauty.  There’s just something so effortlessly elegant about a classic French look.  While we can’t transport you to Paris, we can give you some tips and tricks to bring out your inner French girl’s je ne sais quoi.

“…The French love elegance and rawness, while American beauty is more glamorous. Think Marilyn Monroe,” explains Misha Shahzada, makeup artist for Artist & Agency.   “A proper skin regimen that keeps skin hydrated is essential to achieve this look. I love how Avène Cicalfate Skin Restorative Cream [which is actually a cream designed to help treat scratches, scrapes and burns] combined with a mist of Avène Thermal Spring Water gives skin that really healthy finish,”  Shahzada shares.  With such an emphasis on skincare it’s important to really take care of your face, Votre Vu Attentive Lait Pour Le Visage is a soft cleansing milk ideal for sensitive skin.  Not only will it gently remove your makeup, but it leaves your skin feeling soft and fresh.  Follow that up with Votre Vu’s Attentive Sérum Delicat Pour Le Visage, an organic sérum that helps reduce inflammation and lessen reactions from common allergens. Since it reduces redness and nourishes your skin, it’s a great product to use when you first wake up or later on in the day.

Glowing skin and a great complexion is the perfect canvas; you don’t really need much else!  “Just a hint of a black or dark brown liquid liner and a matte red lipstick really completes that minimalistic French classic beauty look,” explains Shahzada.

Downloads364To master the perfect French girl hair we reached out to Clay Nielsen for Opus Beauty.  “Classic French hair is effortlessly polished. It’s less about products and heat tools. French hair is a simple style that shows the beautiful natural hair,” Nielsen clarifies as he stresses the importance of healthy hair. “… you need to start from the roots to get shiny beautiful hair. I recommend the René Furterer COMPLEXE 5, a French product that detoxifies and stimulates the scalp, so you naturally get that healthy looking hair. Then it’s as easy as putting it up in a twist or chignon. Simple and beautiful.”

Another great beauty trick is Klorane Dry shampoo with oat milk, not only is this a great product if you want to skip a day of washing your hair, but the oat milk really softens your locks and adds a little volume.  Plus, how can you not love a trick which saves you time getting ready in the morning? Now you’ll have time to pick up a bottle of French wine, order some macaroons and let loose your inner French femme.

Great tips! They are fabulous but simple enough to be imitated. From a person with little makeup and style knowledge, this is great!

If you take care of your complexion, you wont need as much makeup. Great products and great review.
