No sooner have we celebrated the New Year, then awards season is upon us. And starting off this glamfest of couture gowns, sexy sirens and accolades for great performances is the 2013 Golden Globes.
Though the Golden Globes may give some indication of who is slated to take home that much coveted, one-name gold statute later in the season, the Golden Globes also intuits the fashion trends that will populate the red carpet during awards seasons. And it appears that 2013 will be a big season for the color red, simple silhouettes and sexy, peek-a-book sheer fabrications.
Red, red, almost everywhere, and certainly red made a grand appearance at the 2013 Golden Globes. Just ask Jennifer Lawrence, Zooey Deschanel, and Claire Danes. New mother, Claire Danes, was stunning in Versace. Though Zooey Deschanel chose for simple elegance in Oscar de la Renta, her red gown could have used a bit more volume. Last, but not least, Jennifer Lawrence was the epitome of sophistication in Dior Haute Couture.
Several of the Golden Globe attendees were not afraid to show a little leg. Eva Longoria led the pack in leg reveal in a black lace-embellished Emilio Pucci gown. While Halle Berry took a risk that paid off in a print Versace. Still, no one has better stems than Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Yves Saint Laurent.
Though the trend for the last couple of seasons has been color, color, and more color, there were some celebrities who chose to stay with the pale palettes of white, cream, and ecru. Amanda Seyfried stuns in a lacy Givenchy Haute Couture. While best-supporting actress winner Anne Hathaway is the perfect picture of regal beauty in a Chanel peplum-inspired gown. And Hayden Pantierre shows off her curves in Roberto Cavalli.
There were lots of mermaid silhouettes to go around at this year’s Golden Globes. Taylor Swift looked deliciously rich in Donna Karan. While, Jessica Alba found the perfect color to compliment her café au lait complexion in Oscar de la Renta, Amy Adams looked amazing in pale coral mermaid dress from Marchesa.

When it comes to showing off the va va voom, nobody does it better than Jenifer Lopez. And this award season Jenifer stayed on trend with lace embellishment married with diaphanous sheer illusions, looking delectable in Zurad Mahir. Kerry Washington of Scandal and Django Unchained fame was chic and fashion forward in Miu Miu. Still, Julianna Marguilies held her own in Emilio Pucci.
