“The Fastest Two Minutes in Sports” has been going on since 1875. While attracting the rich and famous, it is a perfect place for showing off latest trends in spring fashions and of course you better not show up without a fabulous hat! It is an absolute millinery heaven!
Ah, if we could live in the era of Audrey Hepburn or Rita Hayworth!!! Fashion Reverie has divided styles by decades of the last century and also added styles of some stars (Royal Family, Katherine Jenkins, Ginnifer Goodwin, Paula Patton etc.) that can give us few tips on wearing hats; Oh well (t)hat is why today we have Kentucky Derby!
1920’s Cloche – comes from the French word bell. It is a deep crown hat and it comes to eye level. It usually has a thin brim or no brim. Flapper headbands were popular at the same time. Today this description varies.
1930’s Slouch –Imagine Greta Garbo as she was known to like this style. These are commonly made of felt but we expect to see versions of different and modern materials.
1940’s Mushroom – Fashion Reverie thinks this is most likely to be the most common style.
1950’s Lampshade – Medium or tall, round crown. As for the rest, the name says it all.
1960’s Pillbox – This shape was Jackie O’s favorite. No brim, to show of that pretty face!
1970’s … are when most ladies stopped wearing hats daily everywhere but in Great Britian. So let’s get inspired by some our favorite hat makers!
