Pageants are no longer what they once were. That applies locally and nationally. For one thing there is been a name correction, they are no longer called beauty pageants; they are competitions. Also, the contestants no longer have to have Pepsident smiles, talk about world peace, and have perfect Barbie-like bodies.
Add to that the elimination of swimsuit competition; something that the MISS TEEN USA® pageant put in place last year. The swimsuit competition is now a fitness competition featuring athletic wear—to empower women who lead active, purposeful lives.
