After much speculation on who would take over as creative director at Balenciaga, Alexander Wang has been confirmed. The French fashion house announced Wang will also continue to design for his own label alongside his duties at Balenciaga.
“I am deeply honored to embark on this new role for a brand and house that I have such great admiration and respect for,” Wang said in a recent press release.
Wang will replace Nicolas Ghesquiere who had been the helm of Balenciaga for several seasons.
Karl Lagerfeld Collaborates
Karl Lagerfeld latest collaboration will be with Brazilian-based footwear brand Melissa. Melissa has a very prominent collaboration history with Vivienne Westwood, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Alessandra Ambrosio featuring Melissa’s fun jelly shoe designs.
“We are very excited about the partnership with Melissa who have been great in translating Karl’s inspirations and designs into truly iconic and fun fashion products that many women in the world will happily wear,” states Lagerfeld’s CEO Pier Paolo Righi.
Releasing in March, Lagerfeld will be designing capsule collections featuring various styles for Melissa over the next four seasons.
Monique Lhuillier Hits NYC
It has been a long time coming, but Monique Lhuillier has officially opened her New York City flagship store. The two floor boutique showcases the ready-to-wear and accessories on one floor with an intimate bridal salon on the second.
“The New York Story marks an exciting new phase in the growth and development of Monique Lhuillier as a global luxury lifestyle brand. It is a dream come true for Monique to have significant retail footprint in New York,” said Monique Lhuillier CEO, Tom Bugbee.
With grey suede walls and Waterford chandeliers with tiers of crystals, be sure to check out the new boutique located at 19 East 71st Street, between Madison and Fifth Avenues.
