Move over Cara Delevingne, the black supermodels are in town. That’s right; supermodels Naomi Campbell and Jourdan Dunn have snagged Burberry’s latest spring 2015 campaign.
The campaign is shot by Mario Testino and is the first time Naomi Campell has had a Burberry campaign since she was photographed for Burberry alongside Kate Moss in 2001. “It is always a pleasure to work with Mario Testino; we came up in the business together twenty-eight years ago, so have an understanding and ease in working together,” explained Campbell in a fashionmag.com article.
Galliano shut out?
The French Federation of Haute Couture has removed John Galliano for its roster of designers showing couture collections the end of January 2015.
As the new creative head of Martin Margiela, John Galliano has applied to show on the runway in London on January 12 before the Paris Couture shows. According to Stéphane Wargnier, Executive President of the French Federation of Haute Couture, this earlier showing is a conflict of interest.
“It is an application of the rules. Only the latest collections, which have not yet been seen, can be part of the calendar,” stated Warginer to the AFB on last Thursday. “Since this collection will no longer be unseen, since it will show in London, it cannot be presented as part of the programme,” added Wargnier.
Though Martin Margiela’s couture collection will not be listed on the Paris calendar, the collection will be available for private appointments. Galliano’s appointment as creative director for Martin Margiela’s haute couture and prêt-a-porter collections signifies the end a three-year exile for Galliano after his firing from Dior in 2011.
Golden slippers
If you watched the Victoria’s Secret’s 2014 Fashion show on Dec. 9, you probably noticed the supermodel Karlie Kloss was decked out in gold knee-high “gabo” boots. What you probably didn’t know is that those boots cost upward of 16K. That’s right, $16,750 do be exact.
The Nicholas Kirkwood boots also featured embroidered gold chains and Swarovski crystals. Kirkwood has been designing shoes for the Victoria Secret show for three years running.
