Prabal Gurung teams up with MAC Cosmetic for his first venture into the beauty market.

“I was fascinated by the packaging and the beautiful boxes … It was almost magical. I’d see my mom come home from work and put on all this makeup, and it would be a total transformation happening, and [I saw] the confidence that came with that,” explained Gurund in a recent WWD interview.

Prabal Gurung’s 14-piece cosmetic collection with MAC Cosmetics will officially launch on November 26. This collection has been two years in the making and will feature a bronzing powder, eye shadow duo, lipstick and more.

“I can’t wait to give [the collection] to my mom,” he says. “It’s almost like a full-circle thing for me, because that’s where my fashion dream started.”

Gisele Leads the Pack

The number eight seems to be the charm for supermodel Gisele Bundchen. According to Forbes.com, Gisele Bunchen is the highest paid model for the eighth year in a row.

Topping at $47 million dollars, the 34-year old Brazilian supermodel outpaced supermodels Doutzen Kroes, 29 and Adriana Lima, 33 at $8 million a piece, as well as Kate Moss, 40, at $7 million and 22-year old Kate Upton.

Bunchen has contracts with fashion retailer H&M, the French fashion house Chanel and designer Carolina Herrera, among others, and has design deals for lingerie and sandals.

Ralph Lauren Expands

When you are a megabrand it is necessary to tap all available markets. And Ralph Lauren is doing just that with his Polo line for women.

This new line will offer everything from black minimalist schoolgirl dresses to tweed jackets to leather looks that reflect the Western Frontier.  And the iconic Bruce Weber will shoot the videos for this new venture.

“We tried to make something like a suit,” said the photographer and videographer in a recent fashionmag.com article, “a little bit of classic mixed with a lot of street smart and what’s relevant now to us in our lives.”

Bruce Weber has shot for Ralph Lauren for over 30 years.
