Duo Emily Current and Meritt Elliot are leaving their namesake label Current/Elliott.
Although there is no stated reason for the sudden departure, the ladies will continue to work together.
“We are so proud of what we have accomplished with Current/Elliott. Parting ways has been a difficult decision, but we are thrilled for our next chapter in design and to perpetuate our whimsical Americana aesthetic across multiple categories,” states Current and Elliot.
Both ladies were inducted into the CFDA this year and have stated they already are working on a few projects. Despite their departure from Current/Elliot fashion pundits and fashionistas should key their eyes on this dynamic denim duo.
Lady Gaga Announces
Pop singer Lady Gaga has announced that fashion photographer Terry Richardson is making a movie about her. Via her personal Twitter account on Dec. 25, Gaga expresses her deepest appreciation to Richardson for his collaboration.
“Merry Christmas little monsters! Terry Richardson @Terry_World is making a #LadyGagaMOVIE documenting my life, the creation of ARTPOP + you!,” tweets Gaga.
Richardson has made a name for himself shooting campaigns for Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, Yves Saint Laurent, Aldo, and others, as well as having editorials in Vogue, Vanity Fair, i-D, GQ, Rolling Stone, and Vice.
Gaga also released that her fourth studio album, ARTPOP, would be released in this spring. No dates have been announced on the launch date of the documentary or album release date.
J.Crew Unveils
Commercial brand J.Crew has been showing at New York Fashion Week for several seasons . and is now taking steps to extend the brand to include more luxury items.
Earlier this month J.Crew launched an alligator purse, retailing at $1,500, that forwards their high-end mission. The purse is made of alligator and resembles the style of their signature Edie purse.
According to J.Crew, they will only manufacture and release nine of these luxury bags. The alligator bag is currently being sold exclusively at J.Crew’s Madison Avenue location.
