Fashion News Alert: Yves Saint Laurent’s New Logo, Monique Launching Footwear, and eBay’s Holiday Collection

Yves Saint Laurent creative director, Hedi Slimane, has announced that the fashion house will drop “Yves” from its name.

It is hard to imagine such a well-known brand dropping part of their iconic name. Luckily, the change will only affect the ready-to-wear line. The rest of the fashion house will continue using the YSL logo originally designed by Adolphe Mouron Cassandre in 1963.

The famous interlocking YSL logo will now be replaced with a simpler white block design with the lettering, Saint Laurent Paris.

Monique’s designs are worn by many celebrities including Teri Hatcher.

Monique Says ‘I Do’ to Footwear

Bridal and ready-to-wear designer, Monique L’huillier will soon debut a line of shoes. L’huillier has been designing shoes for her collections for the past three year, but none of  the shoes seen in her collections were available for purchase.

Starting next spring there will be a 15-style footwear line encompassing day, evening, and  bridal looks.

“I’ve always wanted to dress women from head to toe,” L’huillier told  Women’s Wear Daily.

L’huillier uses animal skins, lace and intricate cut-outs in her shoes, which compliment many of the garments in her shows. She plans to launch an even bigger line of shoes for fall 2013 than her spring 2013 line with prices ranging from $595 to $1,195.

eBay Creates Holiday Collection

Looks like Target and Neiman Marcus aren’t the only ones joining forces for the holiday season.

The online shopping site, eBay, has just announced it will be releasing a limited edition designer collection for the holiday season.

EBay has decided to collaborate exclusively Billy Reid, Chris Benz, Fallon, Jonathan Adler, Ruffian, Steven Alan, and Tibi. All the designers have created at least five gifts for the over 40-piece collection.

Available starting November 12 through eBay’s Fashion Vault, pieces will vary from men’s and women’s apparel, jewelry to home décor, travel, and electronic accessories.

Price points will range anywhere from $50 to $100.
