For some time, the red carpet was the most interesting part of The Oscars. If not for an average viewer, certainly for those that love fashion and enjoy watching Hollywood royalty dressing up. Usually on their best behavior, celebs pose, smile, and promote their latest projects. For the first timers on the Oscar’s red carpet, it is probably about networking and the glitz. However, for nominated celebs, it probably all depends how many times they have received a nomination. Well just like everything, Oscars are changing, too, However, what doesn’t change is the incredible fashion. Fashion Reverie will proceed with what we know best, picking best dressed at the 94th Academy Awards.
Jessica Chastain in Gucci
Jessica Chastain not only she won an Oscar for the Best Actress in “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” she was also one of the best dressed on the carpet. If Fashion Reverie had to pick only great one look from the red carpet, this would be it. It is just perfection; the fit, the fabric, and the colors. This ombre metallic dress spills into purple and makes a perfect match for the actress with her golden locks. The A-line silhouette makes her curves show in all the right places, yet it is not too va va voom.
Lupita Nyong’o in Prada
Paired with De Beers jewelry and upswept hair, Lupita wears Prada like a supermodel. This dress makes a loud statement, but on Lupita it screams just the right amount of attention. All gold, just like an Oscar statue, embellished with mild fringe and blossoming flowers on her torso, Lupita brought fresh energy to the red carpet and return of the live award shows.
Olivia Colman in Dior
Olivia Colman in a silver silk-pleated dress was a bold choice for the actress who usually opts for more classic styles. Chopard jewels completed her look. However, we can’t quite point out what this look is missing; perhaps a different hairstyle or a fun belt, Fashion Reverie is not sure, but the look needs something.
Nicole Kidman in Armani Privé
A ruffled poof embellishment around one’s waist is a silhouette not many celebs would feel confident enough to try out. The low V-cut and tight bodice and a long cape at the back just make this red-carpet look more interesting and different from every angle. This gown was made for Nicole in an unusual periwinkle color.
Jada Pinkett Smith in Jean-Paul Gaultier Couture
Real life drama aside, this JPG Couture look was chic, modern and the shiny, forest green color made a great transition between seasons. Jada seems to look better and better with each awards season.
Zoe Kravitz in Saint Laurent
In this dusty pink dress with a bow, accessorized with a diamond necklace by Kwiat, Zoe looks so pure and blissful. It seems as if she was channeling “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. This is a timeless look that looks great now and will continue to be timeless for years to come. Some celebrities should take a lesson from that page.
Maggie Gyllenhaal in Schiaparelli
It was inevitable someone would snatch this spring 2022 Schiaparelli Couture gown and Maggie chose well. Nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay for her film ‘The Lost Daughter,” the writer-director/actress looked great in a structured, black column gown adorned with gold ornaments. This is a very special black dress.
Kodi Smit-McPhee in Bottega Veneta
This was Kodi ‘s first Academy Awards and for a 25-year-old, he has an impressive style. He is wearing a baby blue, full custom Bottega look, accessorized with Cartier jewelry. Codi also had a date on the red carpet, his girlfriend, who must have been as impressed by this stylish young actor, as much as everyone else.
