If you’re lucky (or unlucky) enough (depends how you look at it!) to live in a location with four seasons and haven’t adapted your beauty routine, what are you waiting for? The summer heat and strong rays of the sun bring a myriad of beauty issues to your skin and hair.  However, nothing toys with our get-ready-for-a-night beauty regime more than the drying harsh weather of winter.

While you can’t prevent the beating your skin, hair, and nails take during the coldest months of the year, you can try Fashion Reverie’s favorite hacks and tricks approved by beauticians and estheticians to be ready for anything!

Save your lips!

No amount of lipstick or expensive lip glosses can truly hide the damage of dry, cracked lips.  For a truly kissable pout, keep those babies hydrated all year long, paying special attention as the seasons start to change.

So, put down the drying matte lipsticks and focus on color that’s also moisturizing.  For the harshest weather forecasts, Fashion Reverie recommends Clarins Lip Comfort Oil.  This little tube has become a beauty staple for December through February, providing a touch of color with satisfying pure plant oils (such as organic Jojoba and Hazelnut) and the moisture our lips are craving!

Oh, and the best part?  The high-shine finish isn’t the slightest bit sticky!  So, even if a wintery breeze blows your hair onto your face, you don’t need to worry about those strands sticking.

Didn’t have time for a manicure?  You can still look prim and polished by keeping up with your cuticles!

Ragged, unkempt cuticles instantly make you look less put together.  Even if you didn’t have time to go to your favorite salon, keeping your cuticles hydrated is a quick and easy way to make sure clean, unpolished nails are date night worthy!

According to Jin Soon Choi, founder of the popular brand of nail varnishes, Jin Soon, cuticle oil is a must!  Particularly in wintertime. Choi believes so much in the importance of keeping your cuticles hydrated that she’s been known to massage cuticle oil into her interviewers’ hands backstage at Fashion Week during the usual February snowstorms.  (Thanks again Jin!)

Minimize your skincare routine for a glowy complexion

OK, it sounds counterintuitive, but what good are a ton of cleansers, toners, and creams if you don’t have the time to apply them all?  Instead opt for one powerhouse product that can do it all. One that you’ll use every night.

Noomi Stockholm’s Birch Tech Hybrid is a 2-in-1 cream and serum designed to keep your skin hydrated, fresh and looking youthful while shielding your skin from environmental stress.  Founder Tindra Eriksson, a certified nurse and trained esthetician who grew up with natural remedies saw a real need in the market for an organic skincare product that was made with 100% organic ingredients.

Eriksson’s deep knowledge about Scandinavian flora and the effects it has on the skin allowed her to develop a product in which every single ingredient has a purpose and is scientifically maximized for potency.  (Hailing from Sweden, you can bet she knows a thing or two about how to deal with cold weather!)

Birch Tech Hybrid features Nordic Birch sap (for resilient skin), Chaga (for protection against aging free radicals and stress), Wild Swedish Lingonberry (for hydration and improving skin’s elasticity and tone), Cloudberry and Hyaluronic acid (for hydration and keeping skin plump), Vitamin C+ E (for radiance and brightness), Time-Released Retinol (to rewind wrinkles and keep skin firmer, smoother and more evenly toned), and Nordic Bilberry (ro reverse signs of aging) and others.

Add a little flush

In the wintertime complexions can get a little … ghostly.  If you’re not heading somewhere tropical or one to fake bake with self-tanners or bronzers, a little rosy color on your cheeks can do wonders.

Not only does a flush of pink look natural and healthy, as if you just took a brisk jog outside, but it’s one of the oldest tricks in the book.  Guerlain’s Rose Aux Joues adds a delicate glow for an authentic hint of color.
