The first Monday of May is reserved for the Met Gala, the biggest fashion event of the year in the US. The day after is reserved for judging all the looks and the guest list. This year Karl Lagerfeld was honored and the latest Costume Institute exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum opened: “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.”
Fashion Reverie picked out our top ten favorite looks. That said, enjoy!!
Anne Hathaway
With the help of Donatella Versace, “The Devil Wears Prada” star looked fantastic!! She wore a strapless, safety pin dress by Versace with white tweed and pearls. Of course, flowers and fingerless gloves were included in the look!
Bad Bunny
Now Bad Bunny knows how to rock a suit!! This time a gorgeous custom Jacquemus suit. The all-white tweed looked conventional until we noticed the open back and a long, floral train. That said, the white monochromatic look could have been set up with a gold tie or gold sneaks. But Fashion Reverie loved his look none the less!!
Kim Kardashian
Kim looked classy and stunning in a midi dress by Schiaparelli. The dress was made of pearls with a silky corset, accessorized with layered diamond and pearl choker. She also wore a white cape to complete her look!
Cardi B
Cardi B looked like a Princess in a ball gown by Chenpeng Studio. Her appearance and gown fit the Karl Lagerfeld theme in a white shirt and tie with a full black skirt covered in black rosettes.
Sora Choi
South Korean supermodel Sora Choi wore a magnificent in a Thom Browne ensemble. The ruffled cape dramatically fell over her gown. The look channeled Lagerfeld and screamed tasteful dressing.
Jared Leto
We are surprised that Choupette (Lagerfeld’s cat) didn’t attend this Met Gala; however, Jared helped fill the void. He showed up in a full furry cat costume!! The real-life Choupette was greeting friends on the red carpet until the big reveal of who is inside of the costume. Leto later revealed a black ensemble with a cape.
Ashley Graham
Ashley Graham teamed up with British designer Harris Reed, drawing inspiration from Chanel haute couture in the 80’s. Graham stunned on the red carpet in a velvet and satin corset mermaid dress with light pink tones and a structure around her shoulders.
Naomi Campbell
Naomi Campbell looked stunning in a pink fabric draped over her shoulder and a shimmering, silver sequence. She paired it with silver arm cuffs and metallic sandals. This gown is from Chanel‘s spring 2010 couture collection.
Penelope Cruz
Penelope showed up wearing one of the 2023season’s trends, the hood. Is it bridal, is it a Little Red Riding hood in white? Well, it is Chanel! The hood was attached to her strapless gown that featured exquisite embroidery. The look was fitting for the Met Gala.
Keke Palmer
Keke Palmer was right on theme, in a form fitting bodice resembling Chanel tweed jackets. This sparkling tweed gown is by Sergio Hudson along with a baby blue cape. Absolutely stunning look!!
