Golden Globes are a day away and as an important award-season-kick-off celebration Fashion Reverie decided to take a look who had a successful film career in 2013 and who gets to celebrate! The fashion industry always has it eye on the red-carpet trends, starlets, emerging and the evolution of their style. Unfortunately, very few stand out, but when they do we remember their gowns for years to come. Last season brought lots of lace, floral prints and diaphanous sheer fabrics. A lot of us expected a little more color on the red carpet last season, as the predominant colors were beige or black. Still, Fashion Reverie wanted to remind you of some of the looks from the 2013 Golden Globes and I picked my top five:

Julianne Hough in Monique Lhuillier at last year’s Golden Globes was stunning and her slightly messy, upswept hair was a great compliment. The hairstyle was a wonderful addition for a young actress that wants to add edginess to a sparkly, “princessy” gown.

Kerry Washington in MIU MIU looked flawless. Last year Washington made some great choices in her red-carpet looks, let’s hope we see a further evolution of her style.

Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad was a Hollywood siren bombshell with a hairstyle that seemed a part of her silhouette.

Lucy Liu wore Carolina Herrera at last year’s Golden Globes with spring bursting out all over in a floral-patterned gown.

Julianna Margulies did herself proud in Emilio Pucci. And the back of the gown was jaw dropping with a dramatic back cut-out for a Good Wife.
Though Fashion Reverie likes to look back, fashion is always now and next. Fashion Reverie plays stylist before the big night and picks out some of the gowns for the 2014 Golden Globe nominees. There are some that are new to the red carpet and there are some that we always looking forward to seeing.

Lena Dunham has definitely improved her red-carpet appearances. There are few looks that she should stay away from. Mermaid shape and a sheer light fabric that can’t hold everything in place would not look flattering on her so I think that Christian Dior fall 2013 Couture dress would be perfect.

Taylor Schilling has a beautiful figure and she should show off more of her upper body. We are used to seeing her in an orange jumpsuit, so she should pull of something a bit more dramatic. I suggest Elie Saab fall 2013 Couture collection with the deep décolleté.
Lizzy Caplan has dark short hair and we see her as a strong independent woman in Masters of Sex, so a “femme fatale” look works for her. I picked a Ziad Nakad fall 2013 collection rouge, embroidered gown.

Kerry Washington has some bread in the oven (chuck, chuck), so Christian Dior fall 2013 Couture gown with matching gloves would look divine on her.

Amy Adams appears very gentle and angelic (but not in American Hustle) and I love her hair color so Zuhair Murad has a fall 2013 Couture gown that is for her.

The big star of the year is Lupita Nyong’o. The statuesque Kenyan makes a statement just making an appearance. Valentino spring 2013 Couture collection red dress would look great against her ebony complexion.

We all know Jennifer Lawrence is a Dior girl but I would like to see her in one- shoulder illusion braided Rafael Cennamo.
Have fun watching Golden Globes and get ready for Fashion Reverie’s best-dressed picks!
