In less than a week, the second iteration of New York Fashion Week: Men’s (NYFWM) will take place. The inaugural season was a success, though there was a distinct absence of a lot of the international menswear press.

This time around, particularly for fall 2016, the big question that hangs in the proverbial fashion atmosphere is if separating men’s fashion from women is worth all the brouhaha and financial expense. The CFDA, the governing body for NYFWM, would trumpet a resounding, affirmative yes to that query. Others would contend that the verdict is still out. Particularly, with some mainstream menswear designers still missing from the roster of designers scheduled to showcase fall 2016 collection (Michael Bastian, Asaf Ganot, and Y3 have opted out this season.)

Still, there are some wonderful additions this time around. From Joseph Abboud, returning after an absence of several seasons from NYFW, to General Idea’s return to the NYFW scene to newcomers Palmiers du Mal, Deveaux, Devon Halfnight LeFlufy, Max n’ Chester, and Craft Atlantic over 60 designers are showcasing their fall 2016 collection this season. And the Cadillac-sponsored shows at Industrio Superstudio are back again, providing a less expensive way for emerging designers to present their collections.
