Has men’s fashion week as a separate entity from New York Fashion Week: Women’s (NYFWW) enjoyed a successful run? Well, you know what the old adage says, “three time’s the charm.” If that is true, New York Fashion Week: Men’s (NYFWM) in its third season should expect a very prosperous and exciting spring 2017 season.
With new menswear designers being added every season, most fashion pundits would agree that the CFDA was on the right track separating NYFWM from NYFWW. And some of the original men’s designers—Parke and Ronen, John Varvatos, Perry Ellis, Nautica, Robert Geller, Timo Weiland, Ricardo Seco, just to name a few—have not bolted, but continue to show their menswear collections. Additionally, the venue, Skylight Clarkson, showcasing NYFWM is spacious and aptly suited for all the collections shown this season.
For spring 2017 there will be lots of new faces, from Andy Hilfiger, Matama, Landlord, to Linder, Passavant and Lee, Eidos, Title of Work, and New Republic by Mark McNairy. The only things missing are some of the well-known European brands that have yet to jump The Big Pond and show their collection at NYFWM.

Because of unseasonably cool spring weather and shifting consumer-shopping patterns, spring 2016 has been a less than spectacular retail season. That said; the recent spring 2017 men’s weeks in Europe demonstrated that menswear designers are not shying away from presenting collection that push the proverbial fashion envelope. Let’s American menswear designers follow suit, creating collections that are retail friendly combining innovation with fashion forward sensibility.
Fashion Reverie is primed to bring our viewers complete coverage of NYFW: Men’s Spring 2017 from runway/presentations to behind the scenes. New York Men’s Fashion Week: Men’s dates are July 11–14.
