Who says romance is dead? At New York Fashion Week: The Shows spring 2017, models were styled with classic and Renaissance painting-inspired looks were spotted everywhere! Soft and graceful was at the order of the day, with hair stylists opting for flowing locks rather than precise and rigid coifs. Makeup was kept innocent and rosy. Fall back in love with these pretty, girly styles!
At Reem Acra, Carole Colombani, the lead French makeup artist for Maybelline wanted the look to be “very pretty and soft and light in the texture. I wanted [the makeup] to feel like it’s printed on the skin.”

“My inspiration was Renaissance paintings. The woman with super flush, healthy, perfect skin.” Working with several different products, Colombani applied a mix of Corrector and foundation on the complexion. For the eyes, she applied several different types of mascara, including Maybelline’s Spider and Push Up Mascaras.
To get that rosy glow, Colombani applies lipstick in Dark Berry to the models’ cheeks with her fingertips, starting from the center and then blending out. “It’s just natural—as if the blood is coming through your veins giving you a cute tint.” She also used the new translucent powder which is “white and super fine” to keep the look “a bit blurry, a bit velvety” rather than shiny.

The half-up style at Tory Burch was pretty as a picture, featuring soft waves and loose face-frame strands. Redken Global Creative Director, Guido, created this easy style using Redken Windblown 05 and air drying the hair. A curling iron was used on a few select strands. Odile Gilbert, for Moroccanoil fashioned a grittier, more textured half ‘updo’ for Zac Posen’s runway show. Wispy pieces add extra charm. For that gritty texture, Gilbert sprayed Moroccanoil’s Dry Texture Spray all over the model’s tresses.

Katie Nealson also created a “soft flowy romantic [hairstyle] as a nice contrast to the shapes and black and white in [Miguel Vieria’s] Collection.” Using a classic blow out along with a “very soft paste to give a sheen and luster to the hair.
Our love affair with soft feminine hair and charming rosy makeup is back and stronger than ever!
