As Paris Fashion Week comes to a close, fashion journalists, editors and fashion industry professionals look back all the trends coming off the runway. Each fashion week brings with it a new set of trends, some work only for the size 2, 6ft-tall supermodel types, others trends can be incorporated into the average consumers wardrobe. Fashion Reverie breaks down some of our favorite and least favorite trends of New York Fashion Week: The Shows spring 2017 asking the question: is this a trend that can be rocked on Main Street or should this trend be left on the runway?

The Color Orange: Jenny Packham, Rag & Bone, and Narcisco Rodriquez
While orange can be a difficult color to wear for some, orange grabs attention and is very on trend. Warmer, brown complexions will want to lean towards oranges with yellow undertones while cooler, paler complexions will want to go with oranges that have blue undertones. If that doesn’t work for you, experiment with orange in accessories. Go with orange shoes, an orange purse or gloves, any accessory that plays down orange as a head-to-toe look. Rock it!!

Embellished Platform Shoes: Gucci, Dsquared2, and Marc Jacobs
Many fashion pundits feel that platform shoes are a trend that should have died forever in the 70’s. Those clunky heels, now with crazy embellishments are a big stretch for most consumers. The embellishments seen in the spring 2017 collections can be a distraction from the clunk awkwardness of platforms. However, that distraction doesn’t take away that platform shoes can be a little dangerous. Can you say twisted ankles?
Marc Jacobs created a pair that has a whopping 8-inch height! Lose your footing in those and you’ll be heading to the Emergency Room. The fashion adventurer might embrace platforms, others will leave this trend where they found it, on the runway.

Natural Hair: Ralph Lauren, Marchessa, and Michael Kors
Many designers bypassed the traditional 2 hours preshow hair fried, dyed and laid to said routine, letting models wear their tresses the way it came in, no product and natural curls only. Finally, a trend that is effortless. Roll out of bed, finger comb and go! Rock it!!

Wet hair look : Thakoon, Altuzarra, and Jason Wu
In the mood to douse your hair with tons of product that will take you a half hour to wash out, and make it appear as if you haven’t washed your hair in weeks? Many are saying wet hair looks sexy while others are saying it makes your hair look oily and unwashed. Don’t you already spend enough money and time on your hair? Leave it.

Exposed Bras: Alexander Wang, Altuzarra, Victoria Beckham, and Tory Burch
No, they didn’t forget to put on their shirts, a number of designers are predicting that bras as outerwear will be the look for spring 2017. And if you spend two hours a day working out and can bounce a quarter off your stomach, you might agree. But the average American woman cannot do that nor would this look be even remotely appropriate in 90% of her daily life. Unless you actually ARE a supermodel, you might consider leaving it on runway!!

Seam Splits: 3.1 Phillip Lim, DKNY, and Self-Portrait
Another trend from the spring 2017 runway season to take note of are tiny faux seam rips that expose an inch of two of skin. I’m sure many will pass on this pseudo grunge look saying it looks sloppy, but others will say it adds a slight sexiness that isn’t overt or vulgar and is a whimsical touch to otherwise pedestrian clothes. Leave it on the runway or rock it? You choose!!
