The 2014 Tony Awards Red Carpet

The 68th Annual Tony Awards were just “crazy pants” as Tony-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris would say. It is the biggest night on Broadway, and with so much talent at Radio City Music Hall on that special night, the Tony Awards is bound to be an exciting show that’s full of surprises. Hugh Jackman, the master of ceremonies, did the “Bunny Hop” through the auditorium, on to the stage and than backstage. For all of you that are unsure what inspired him, take a look at a clip of Bobby Van doing the same move in the Take Me to Broadway number from “Small Town Girl.” It was quite an entrance followed by some amazing speeches and performances. I am sure all of us theater lovers shed a tear or two inspired by the best of the best in show business.

Fashion Reverie kept an eye on those celebs that deserved to be listed as red carpet best looks.

We would like to start with the person that caught our eye first, not just because of a great dress but her amazing upbeat energy on the red carpet. Krystal Joy Brown was brimming over with joy, and she didn’t hide her happy for one second. She was there to celebrate in a Maggie Norris Couture gown. With a deep neck plunge and open back that showed off her curves, Krystal walked confidently and ebulliently down the red carpet. Not just anyone can wear this type of silhouette and this young actress is well aware that she can!

Emmy Rossum shamelessly shimmered in a fabulous Ralph Lauren metallic Old Hollywood-style dress. The gown was fitted perfectly, and the gown paired nicely with Ralph Lauren’s fine jewelry.

Anna Gunn went for a gold shade of sparkles in a Jenny Packham floor-length dress.  The actress looks far from “Breaking Bad “ and was dressed appropriately for the occasion. We say thumbs up (even though her hair style is debatable).

Idina Menzel looked wickedly hot in Zac Posen. Now that she is footloose and fancy free, we guess it is time to show a little more of her voluptuous figure. Fashion Reverie hopes  Idina will continue down this path. Jacob & Co earrings are a perfect match and we are absolutely in love with her perfectly matching Judith Leiber clutch.

Splashes of color always lighten up the mood, and the “Aladdin” star, Courtney Reed certainly brought in a piece of bright, beautiful daytime with her. She impressed in Carmen Marc Valvo.  This shade of blue is ideal for her skin color but Fashion Reverie would prefer to see her hair in a chignon.

The Tony’s red carpet is usually an event where people keep it simple by wearing black. Fashion Reverie contends that a long dress with long sleeves is playing it too safe.  In Vera Farmiga case we have to admit, she looked fantastic in a Stella McCartney frock! It fits her like a glove and as a frock with lots of drama keeps the mystery alive.

Kate Mara is a pretty, young actress. Dolce & Gabbana makes beautiful dresses and the dress she wore to the Tony Awards is simply gorgeous garment, but didn’t have the right pizazz for her. Fashion Reverie thinks the dress just doesn’t fit her well and it was too overpowering for the modest “House of Cards” star.

Sutton Foster was princess perfect in a pretty pink Reem Acra dress. She was nominated for her role in “Violet” so I guess she missed out on the opportunity to wear the color of her show. Jokes aside, we love the bandeau top and gold accessories.

There was another diva in pink attending. Hint hint …

The Tonys wouldn’t be the Tonys if we didn’t have few dapper guys walk the carpet.  Our two favorite looks are Billy Porter and RuPaul.
