The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards may pale in comparison to the Oscars, Grammys, and Golden Globes, but there is still lots of great fashion to go around. Remember, actors are nominated and awarded by their peers at the SAG Awards. And though the SAG Awards is a less pressured environment, celebs still pull out the stops, employing top stylists to help them achieve the picture perfect look, Dresses are less formal and we get to see our favorite stars express more of their fashion creativity.
The brightest star last night was Sofia Vergara, and she literally dazzled on the red carpet. She showed off her curves in a sparkly Donna Karan Atelier with a massive jeweled Amrapali necklace. Curves and sparkle seem to be a magical combination for Vergara!!

Sandra Bullock walked the red carpet in a very sexy high-slit,shimmery Lanvin dress with high bow. Juile Bowen went for a more modern look, and we think she looks adorable. Though not a typical Carolina Herrera gown, the orange color was perfect for Julie’s skin tone. Lupita Nyong’o proved that she is a true fashionista in the making with a green Gucci number. The Gucci gown was fantastic, but not a complete hit. Lupita set her standards high with the red cape dress she wore at the recent Golden Globes.
Malin Akerman looked like an Egyptian sphinx in a very dramatic Naeem Khan gown. The editors at Fashion Reverie love the dress and we are glad she kept her hair and make up simple.
Quite a few celebrities chose black and gold combination that seems to be trending this award season. Emma Thompson stepped out in a vintage dress with Christian Louboutin flats, and she looked fantastic. The dress was embellished near her left shoulder; she looked effortlessly cute and truly happy to be at the SAG Awards.
Are blonds only allowed to wear black and gold at the SAG Awards? Helen Mirren graciously smiled at her fans in Escada and Katrina Bowden picked Badgley Mischka, an edgier than usual look than we have come to expect fro her. All of these ladies looked amazing and Helen Mirren’s hairstyle and make-up made her appear ageless.
Amy Adams (Antonio Berardi), Kathi Griffin (Antonio Berardi) and Jane Krakowski (Roland Mouret) wore similar styles. Fitted dresses with asymmetrical cuts, or in Kathi Griffin’s case, a tasteful peplum around her small waist. Our favorite look of the three is Jane Krakowski in that everything came together perfectly.
Julia Roberts demonstrated a great way to wear pants on the red carpet! The Valentino jumpsuit was a step up for Roberts; a much better look than last week’s white shirt and black skirt combination. Keep it up Julia!
Cate Blanchett was pretty in pink Givenchy. Fashion Reverie says thumbs up!
Marchesa on Hannah Simone was a perfect choice. The light fabric and flowers around her neckline made the actress look super feminine.
Fashion Reverie is a big fan of Kerry Washington and her style, but who isn’t. However, the pregnant actress showed up in a cropped embellished Prada top and a black gown skirt. It seemed like a great fashion move, but this was not her best red-carpet look, especially with an extended belly.
