Fashion Reverie kick started the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival by visiting the red carpet of “Dior and I.” Filmmaker, Frederic Tcheng, who is already known in the fashion world after co-producing “Valentino: The Last Emperor” and directing “Diana Vreeland: The Eye Has to Travel.” This time, Tcheng took on “Dior and I” as his primary project. Tcheng follows Dior creative director Raf Simons as he creates his first collection for the fall/winter 2013 season.
The main focus of this documentary is the process of making that special one of a kind garment. Frederic Tcheng leads us behind the scenes where we get to know the Dior seamstresses and attendees at the Dior runway show.
Harvey Weinstein attended the premiere and he shared his opinion with Fashion Reverie:
“Movie is great, I came to support it. It is really fun. You watch the process as I do every day because I live with it. You really watch the art of what these designers go through. Trust me, until I met Georgina, I had no idea.”
“When you see Raf, and what he goes through in this movie it’s quite incredible to watch him and than you realize it is an art. If you have told me ten years ago, before I met Georgina that fashion was art, I was probably at the Yankee’s stadium at the time. It’s a good movie for all of you guys. “
As New York City’s most fabulous film festival wrapped up, Fashion Reverie pick out our favorite celebrity looks.
Watch out Fashion Reverians spring is in the air and so are lighter colors and more skin! We noticed a lot of cherry blossom and pale pink.
Zoe Levine wore fabulous Elie Saab pre-fall 2014 lace pleated dress. She pairs it with Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist’ sandals and looked perfect neck down. Hairstyle is debatable and I leave it up to you.
Greta Gerwig wore a similar silhouette. Chanel tweed dress flattered her figure and mid sleeves on both are perfect for our hot and cold weather.
Emma Watson looked super cute in a wrap around top and a mini skirt. We loved the Narciso Rodriquez look and her rose gold cuff bracelet. As for the shoes I guess you guys get the message, Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist’ sandals are IN.
Lace and sheer diaphanous fabrics are definitely trending back. Sofia Vergara and Nikki Reed are there to prove it. Sofia wore a white fitted Zuhair Murad creation. Fashion Reverie’s concern is that the dress is too long and somewhat bridal. Still, Vergara continues to bring the vava voom. Nikki found a perfect fit in a Lela Rose lace dress; black always works for her.
Orange is (not just the new black) but one of the colors of the season. It works with all skin tones and most colors. Heather Graham wore Robert Rodriguez and as beautiful as the dress is we would have preferred to see it in on a starlet in her twenties. Karolina Kurkova in Roksanda Ilincic looks less than a super model but we can forgive her this time and blame it all on her make-up. Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Vionnet wins this round. This bright orange knitted dress streamlines her figure and she also has accessorized well.
Toni Collette in Proenza Schouler and Berenice Marlohe in Sass&Bide went for a white and gold combination, which is always in trend. This battle Toni wins because she looks effortless while Berenice looks like she is trying a little too hard with a little too much make up.
These were Fashion Reverie’s most memorable looks from the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival. We saved one last look for you to share your opinion on. Hailee Steinfeld’s Valentino dress does have every color in the spring trend palette. But is it a little too much? You decide!!
