Weekend Fashion News Alert: Kanye West Changes Time Slot for NYFW, Christie Brinkley Back in Sports Illustrated, and Neiman Marcus Drops Ivanka

Kanye West does what he wants to do. Well, most of the time.

Because of criticism from the CFDA of his NYFW show time slot, Kanye West has moved his show to two hours earlier to accommodate Marchesa. West came under criticism from CFDA President Steve Kolb, who called West erratic behavior “inexcusable, “ asking West to communicate with the CFDA so they together could come up with a better time slot for fall 2017 show.

“Kanye called me personally to let me know that he had no intention of showing on top of another designer, and was unaware that there was a conflict. He explained that once he realized Marchesa was in the time slot, he immediately looked at alternative options. The CFDA appreciates Kanye’s outreach and effort, and we look forward to working with him far in advance to integrate Yeezy into the schedule in seasons to come,” explained Kolb in a recent fashionnetwork.com article.

West had refused to change his time slot at the behest of the CFDA for four prior seasons. Kanye West’s Yeezy fall 2017 fashion show will be on Tuesday, February 14.

Age aint nothing but a number

A good wine grows better with age, and so does Christie Brinkley. At 63, Brinkley becomes the oldest model to grace the pages of Sports Illustrated Swimwear edition.

Christie Brinkley has appeared in Sports Illustrated Swimwear edition eight times from 1975 to 2004, and a record three consecutive times on its cover in 1979, 1980, and 1981, respectively. In the new issue, which hits newsstands on February 15, Brinkley appears alongside her two daughters, Sailor Brinkley Cook, 18, and Alexa Ray Joel, 31 in a red and black one-piece swimsuit.

Bye, bye Ivanka

One day after Bloomberg reported that Nordstrom’s was winding down its relationship with Ivanka Trump based on the fashion brand’s poor performance, Neiman Marcus pulled Ivanka Trump’s jewelry from its online site and also stopped selling Ivanka’s jewelry at Neiman Marcus Garden State Plaza store in New Jersey. There was no explanation for Neiman Marcus’ discontinuation of Ivanka Trump’s jewelry.

Ivanka Trump and Neiman Marcus failed to comment on the discontinuation. Ivanka Trump in September announced two new licensing deals with A.D. Sutton & Sons Inc and The Jewelry Group to sell baby accessories and fashion jewelry. (Thomas Reuters)
